Sourced from the vineyard “La Serna” planted in 1936, Loess Collection 2009 is an Oak Barrel fermented Verdejo, made in the Burgundy style “sur lie”. Clear and bright golden yellow-straw color. On the nose presents the tropical fruity aromas of the verdejo grape with grassy fresh hay, harmoniously combined with subtle tertiary aromas from the wood.

On the palate, it is an explosive wine, buttery but complemented by great acidity that will provide long life. Fresh, pleasant and silky. Very persistent in the mouth with a final well managed bitterness.

A young, aromatic and fresh verdejo. Deep yellow in colour, very clear and attractive. Intense on the nose with fruity notes combined with very floral and persistent undertones.

On the palate it is well rounded, structured and filling with a long fruity finish.

Loess is a winemaker effort with two parallel sides. Both projects aim to create terroir wines, expressing the characteristics of their select vineyards.

Loess makes reference to the soil type in the specific vineyards of this project. Located in Roa, Burgos, the hearth of Ribera del Duero, these soils appear as aeolian sediment formed by the accumulation of wind-blown silt. The tempranillo grape, or “tinta del pais” as known locally, is sourced from 74 acres classified as excellent in the official zoning of the DO. These ratings were commissioned by the regulatory council and the studies performed by the local university.

Two Verdejo whites from he neighbor region of Rueda complement the project. Loess created an Oak Barrel fermented Verdejo that is been acclaimed by the critics as one on the top Rueda wines in the market. Loess expert winemaking is matched with an unique approach to product image, creating true originals.

Verdejo thrives in Northwestern Castile continental climate and gravel soils. The grape gives aromatic wines, often soft with body.

Wines take on a slightly yellowish color, with a youthful, greenish hue. A crisp and fresh white variety with grassy notes, a touch of fruit and excellent level of acidity. The extract, a key factor when assessing the personality of great white wines, is perceived through its volume and its characteristic bitter touch, which leaves a glint of originality in the mouth, accompanied by a rich fruity expression. These wines are harmonious, and their aftertaste invites to go on drinking.
